Tattooing is the placing of a mark or design on or under the skin of a human being by a process of piercing or ingraining a pigment, dye, or ink in the skin.
The Florida Department of Health in Hernando County conducts permitting and inspections of tattooing facilities in Hernando County and permitting of tattoo artists to prevent the spread of bloodborne disease. The inspections are done using prescribed minimum sanitary and safety requirements related to the design, operation, and maintenance of tattooing facilities and temporary establishments.
Permits are valid from October 1 through September 30 and must be applied and renewed annually.
