Health Department Announces Ages 60 and Up May Now Schedule COVID-19 Vaccine Appointment

By Ashley D. Thomas, Public Information Officer

March 12, 2021

Brooksville, Fla.— The CDR Maguire Health & Medical patient portal will go live to book COVID-19 vaccine appointments, this Sunday, March 14, at 3 p.m. for Floridians age 60 or older who would like to schedule an appointment for the first dose of the vaccine.

In addition to Floridians age 60 and above, the following priority groups may also schedule an appointment:

  • K-12 school employees 50 years of age and older
  • Sworn law enforcement officers 50 years of age and older
  • Firefighters 50 years of age and older

Appointments are required to get the vaccine. Walkups will not be accommodated. Those receiving the vaccine will be required to provide documentation of age such as a driver’s license, government-issued ID, birth certificate or passport or identification showing employment status for a qualifying priority group.

The health department has received 1,500 total doses of the vaccine, to be administered in the following 2, 750-dose blocks:

  • March 16th from 9 a.m.- 3 p.m. at the Hernando County Fairgrounds (6436 Broad St., Brooksville, FL. 34601)
  • March 17th from 9 a.m.- 3 p.m. at the Hernando County Fairgrounds (6436 Broad St., Brooksville, FL. 34601)

The Hernando County appointment portal will go live at 3 p.m. on March 14, 2021. People can then schedule their appointments in one of the above slots on a first come, first served basis using the two options shown below:

Recently, the State of Florida released information about a pre-registration system at myvaccine.fl.gov. This site is independent of Sunday’s signup for Hernando County appointments for vaccines. Registering at that site DOES NOT REPLACE signing up at the Patient Portal as the site is not yet in use in Hernando County. You must register and log into www.patientportalfl.com to register for the appointments that will go live Sunday.

Hernando County expects to receive allocations of vaccine from the state as it is made available. Vaccination appointments will be provided to the public based on the vaccine supply allocation received. --30-
