Celebrate International Walk to School Day Hernando County

Brooksville, Fla.— Hundreds of thousands of students, parents, school officials and local leaders in communities across the world will walk to school on October 2, 2019, to celebrate International Walk to School Day. This global event involves communities from more than 40 countries walking and biking to school on the same day.

On Wednesday, the Hernando County School District and the Florida Department of Health in Hernando County encourage residents to walk or bike to school. This observance provides a great chance for families to get some exercise and enjoy the great outdoors while promoting healthier habits for children and adults. According to the Walk and Bike to School website, there are close to 4000 schools nationwide registered to participate in Wednesday's event.
